My husband loves things to be wrapped, sandwiched, covered with some sort of carbohydrate goodness. While I'm not afraid of carbs, I prefer that they be a separate entity (like muffins). So its become a trend that when I make tacos, or burritos, or anything that could be a wrap or sandwich, I end up eating it on a bed of greens.
Yesterday, our wrap vs. bed meal was BBQ Seitan Tacos.
This weekend I used this recipe for Seitan Cutlets.
I chopped up three cutlets and mixed with half an onion, sliced thin, and enough BBQ sauce to coat. I let it marinate while I cut up some avocado, tomato, and cilantro. After that, the seitan and onion went into a medium-hot pan coated with cooking spray, and it was covered, and cooked for about 15 minutes, stirring periodically (but not too often, so you get those nice brown spots).
Then the raging debate began.
On a wrap?
Or on a bed?
Then the debate ended because our mouths were too full. This was so easy and so yummy. Plus I had no idea how happy avocado makes my husband!
Anyone else for the wrap? Or the bed? I'm a supporter of greens wherever I can get them!
I am now off to a yoga class! We started at a new gym and I am quite pleased.
Either way looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I'd prefer the bed, but I'm not a huge wrap fan. Meanwhile, the seitan looks great. I'm usually not a big fan, but yours looks tasty!
ReplyDeleteBoth ways look delicious! I don't know, it depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Sometimes I want a big bowl with a bed of spinach at the bottom, and other times I want everything all neat and tasty in a wrap.
ReplyDeletehaha, Nick is a carb addict too. He must have carbs with everything! I really like wraps, but sometimes the bed is fine with me too. Like you said, wherever I can get my greens/veggies I'll take it!
ReplyDeleteThe seitan sounds interesting. It's wheat gluten, which I try to stay away from because I feel that it makes me bloated! Either way, the cutlets look really good!
Don't get me wrong - I love me some carbs, BUT I feel like the bed is definitely preferable. It packs in the veggies AND usually takes me longer to eat. :)
ReplyDeleteI put the greens IN the wrap!!! Best of both worlds!!! :D
ReplyDeleteTell us about your gym!!!!!!

This is totally my problem... i like everything in carby-goodness... with a muffin for desert, or on the side, or even as the bread if im feeling creative and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteEither way im whipping out the Veganomicon when i get home and making some seitan cutlets... then im gonna have them every which way but loose.
*note: you could always steam up a bunch of swis chard and meet him halfway*
I say put the greens on the wrap with the seitan...best of both worlds! Yea, I'm one of the carby ones, though I'm sure I should be eating things on beds of greens instead. Carbs just taste so much better!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Bianca, in a wrap with extra salad!
ReplyDeleteI love wraps, but GF wraps are a pain in the butt! I usually just end up making a salad.
ReplyDeleteI love wraps but they are so messy to eat!
ReplyDeleteYours look yummy!
Yum!! I like the best of both worlds. I put my greens in my wrap too! Heavy on the greens!
ReplyDeleteYour post is so yummy! A feast in the eyes! So very appetizing! Keep posting!
